Farro is run by one person, Ryan Volpi, in Boston. We collect the least we can get away with: your email so you can sign in, the handful of settings that make the app yours, and analytics that show us where the product is confusing or broken. We do not sell your data. Our public pages carry a Meta advertising pixel so we can tell which ads bring people to Farro. It never runs inside the app, so what you do once you are signed in stays out of it.
What we collect
- Your email address. It is how you sign in. We also collect it before you have an account, in two places: when you ask to hear that Farro reached your area, and on the step before checkout. Both go to PostHog, our analytics tool, whether or not you ever create an account. The checkout one also goes to Stripe, which puts it on your receipt, and we may email you about a purchase you started. It is kept in your browser as well, so the field is already filled the next time you buy.
- Your settings: whether you browse as vegan or vegetarian, and the restaurants and dishes you save.
- Membership status, and an identifier from our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.
- Corrections you send us about a dish or a listing.
- Usage analytics: pages you open, things you tap, searches you type, and errors the app hits.
- Session recordings, which are deleted after 30 days.
- Standard server logs, including your IP address.
Location
Farro never asks for your location on its own. The map opens on downtown Boston, and only requests location if you tap "Near me". If you allow it, your coordinates are used on your device to move the map. We do not store them.
Who else sees it
We use outside services to run Farro, and they only handle your data to provide their part of the product: Supabase for the database and sign-in, Vercel for hosting, PostHog for analytics and session recordings, Resend for sign-in emails, Cloudflare for the domain and mail forwarding, OpenFreeMap for the map itself, and Stripe for payments. Meta receives a page view when you open our home page, About, Terms, Privacy or an article, and a signal when you tap the button to buy; that is the whole list, and we turned off the automatic collection Meta switches on by default. We do not sell your personal information, and nothing you do inside Farro goes to an advertiser: the pixel is not loaded on the map, your saved places, your account or any restaurant page.
Your choices
Email us and we will delete your account and everything attached to it, send you a copy of what we hold, or correct anything that is wrong. That includes an address you left to hear when Farro reaches your area, or on the step before checkout, even if you never created an account. You can sign out at any time from your account screen, and a browser tracker blocker will stop the analytics, the session recording and the Meta pixel without breaking the app.
