Privacy Policy

Who we are

Farro is a cooking app that helps you plan meals, generate recipes, and guide you through cooking them. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect when you use Farro, how we use it, and the choices you have. “We”, “us”, and “Farro” refer to the operator of www.getfarro.com.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your Google account’s basic profile information (your name and email address). We do not receive your Google password.

Content you create. When you use Farro, we store the recipes you generate, your cook history, your dietary preferences and allergies, your profile notes, and the messages you send to the in-app cooking assistant.

Usage information. We log basic events about how you use the app — for example, when you create a recipe, open cook mode, or complete a cook. We also collect standard request information such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps for security and debugging.

Cookies and similar technologies.Farro uses cookies (and similar browser storage) to keep you signed in and to measure how the app is performing. Some of these are essential to the service; others are used for analytics and advertising (see “Third-party services” below).

How we use information

  • To provide the service — generating recipes, saving your cook history, personalizing suggestions to your dietary preferences.
  • To improve Farro — analyzing usage patterns to understand which features work and which don’t.
  • To communicate with you about your account or important changes to the service.
  • To detect abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

AI and recipe generation

Farro’s recipe generation and in-app cooking assistant are powered by large language models provided by OpenAI. When you ask Farro to generate a recipe, suggest dishes, or answer a cooking question, the relevant information from your prompt — including ingredient lists, dietary preferences, and the content of your conversation with the assistant — is sent to OpenAI’s API to produce a response.

We do not knowingly send your account email or other directly identifying information to OpenAI. OpenAI handles this data according to its own API data usage policies. As of this writing, OpenAI does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models by default.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate Farro. Each has its own privacy policy describing how it handles the data we share with it.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the third-party services listed above, only to the extent necessary to operate Farro. We may also disclose information when required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the safety of our users.

We retain your account information and the content you create for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your account information and content within 30 days, except where we are required to keep it for legal or security reasons (for example, fraud prevention or financial record-keeping).
